Our story
The Town has stood on this corner of Winchester’s old market crossroads for years — long enough to know most of our regulars by name, and to have watched the city change around us.
Who we are
We’re not part of a big chain. The Town is owned and run by a local family, which means the decisions about what we stock, how we price things and how we treat customers are made right here — not at a head office.
That independence is what lets us stay open the long hours we do, keep a genuinely wide range in a small footprint, and say yes to the odd favour for a regular that a bigger shop never could.
What matters to us
Value
Being small doesn’t mean being expensive. We shop around hard so our shelf prices stay competitive with anywhere in the city.
Community
Students, families, shift workers, the school run, the after-pub rush — we open our doors to the whole rhythm of the town.
Trust
We work closely with local police and Trading Standards on age-restricted sales, because doing it properly matters to us.
Meet you at the counter
Ask any regular and they’ll tell you: coming into The Town isn’t just about the shopping list. It’s the two minutes catching up on the street, the last-minute pot plant for a school project, the flowers picked up on the way to a friend’s — we like being part of those small moments.
